What should be next for NexuizClans.com?

I'm trying to get an idea of what I should be focusing my efforts on and in which priority.

This doesn't look so much like you're trying to poll the community for real results as it does "how can I spam nexuizclans.com more?"


To address you poll options:

More profile fields
Vague and more appropriate to ask current members on the site itself.

Customizable templates for clan blogs (stylesheet, logo, sidebar widgets)
Obviously yes

IRC integration with #nexuiz on QuakeNet
What does this even mean? spam #nexuiz every time someone signs up?

There is are two more appropriate channels for integrating more information about matches and clans: #nexuiz.clans #nexuiz.pickup

FaceBook Connect
Maybe more appropriate to ask the Facebook Group.

Twitter Support
What does this take 2 minutes but who even cares? If you're going to do it, do it. Sure, it'll likely attract a few more players... but I don't think it's necessary to ask as a poll option.

Probably helpful on a social network

Sorry if you find my feedback sharply put. I just don't really see the point in this poll. In fact, it almost sounds like you've already made up your mind about the direction you're going with these options. If you want to get more people involved, you have to learn to say what you do and do what you say a little better.

I posted these ideas on the site as well in the article "What's Next?" I wanted to poll a greater user-base in addition to the people who've seen what's there now. Also, I do not have a poll system setup yet.

This might be obvious to a developer but many people don't know how to write CSS or what it can do. This poll is mainly to establish the good ideas from the bad and prioritize them. Uploading images (a logo) is a very comfortable action for the typical user and would add a level of personalization for the non-coder. Many WordPress templates support user-friendly options for changing the general look and feel. This is something I'd like to do, but I think there are other things that should come first.

I was thinking about adding an IRC client to the site that would log be logged into #nexuiz with the username of your nexuizclans.com login. This could be automatically auth'd with Q and configured with the same password they signed up with. Without installing any 3rd party software, someone who is not normally an IRC user would be able to check out the channel. I do not advocate any form of spam. In fact, one of the biggest problems so far has been deleting spam signups and trying to figure out a way to block them without a CAPTCHA.

I have no idea if anyone on here uses Twitter/Facebook or not. Both are ubiquitous and could get new users signed up easier without an email confirmation/activation process. I did find a FaceBook page with about 300 'Fans'. I started to wonder if it would be worth it to bridge the the services.

Sure, but it's not built into BuddyPress, nor is there a plug-in available. Honestly I haven't looked into what this entails yet. It was just another idea that I decided to include because I noticed that it was lacking.

Agreed, this is not a hard addition. The reason for including it in the poll is to establish whether or not it will be used. There's no sense in adding it if nobody will use it.

No offense taken here. I think most of your insights were valid questions. Just to clarify one detail: this poll and the post "What's Next" were published one after another. On NC, I said "Here’s a list of ideas I’ve been kicking around for NexuizClans.com". To be clear, I've not yet made up my mind, which is why I'm polling the community.

i voted for IRC integration and social bookmarking should be second on your priority list. Customization options are a mere bonus. It enhances the experience, but chat (or polling), for example, are more vital. Anything about integrating other social networks.

This is not on the list and probably more difficult to add, but most clans I know use (free) forums, and if you could offer that in a "Nexuiz environment", it certainly would be big bonus.

There is a bbpress bridge for BuddyPress. I'm going to test it sometime next week if I get a chance. I've been busy editing massive amounts of video.
