To better learn Nexuiz's past I decided to download a really old-ass version of it to play, here are my thoughts of it in comparison to the current version.
From what I can tell most of the changes to Nexuiz were very evolutionary with the following releases being a HUGE improvement over the previous one. The animations in 1.1 seemed a bit more stiff, side tilting view when dying didn't really feel right and a lot of the weapons act and feel better in the newer releases. With that said the devs did a damn good job in upgrading the game with each release. There are a few things I did like better in the old version though that in my opinion would kick a lot off ass if they were implemented in a newer version. I like the fact that the game was grittier and the guns looked more like guns because of the darker look (though they didn't get colored to your player's colors) the textures (the newer models themselves beat the hell out of these) had, I like how the laser's model was smaller, and I kind of like the idea of view-tilting when strafing (though the way it was done in 1.1 was a bit awkward). I also found some content that hasn't been seen in the newer releases in the areas of skins and maps that would be cool to see re-introduced no matter how low-quality they are. Pretty cool how this game evolved over time, though it be really cool to see some of the older style and content re-introduced.
