Struggling to find tips on Video Recording from Demos

Postby soze » Sat Jan 09, 2010 9:54 pm

I've found it all before but I can't track it down now. Why can't there be one place where I can go to get information on recording demos. Namely I need to remember the command for switching from ogg to avi. But secondarily I've found alot of information on binds and things in the past, I would just love to have them in one easy to access place.

just take a look at all the cl_capturevideo* variables. Either via console "cvarlist *capture*" or the advanced settings dialog :)

To be honest though theres no reason for you to switch from ogg to avi, avi is bigger and worse quality for youtube. For some reason ogg uploads into youtube as native HD format, Couldn't explain why that happens and it's a much smaller file.

However if you would like to watch ogg files and you are using windows you may need something like VLC player. It's free anyway.

AVI may be bigger, but I think it's easier to import it into other software for editing, like Sony Vegas. If you have the space for AVI, why not use it? It saves a bunch of work if you try to edit an ogg video. Don't get me wrong though, ogg is perfect if you don't want to edit anything, especially 10 minute duels. =P
