First: I am not the most active member in the community but I play the game pretty often (mostly Offline against bots I admit). So maybe I should not say too much now but I want to get rid of some thoughts.
I also must say I think it's a good thing Nexuiz will get a biger platform and I am sure it's an encrichment for those involved. Big Congratulations for those.
I think I can also agree with most of what tChr said. And I can understand what Kedhrin said.
Still:
I guess the biggest issue is what simply is shown when the wwebsite nexuiz.com is showed up:
You see the annoucement of the console version - bumping it. The "GPL Nexuiz" link is somewhere below that, small, seemingly "unimportant". And I guess this is a good anology on how people feel just right now: Unimportant, left aside.
I really do not know what the developers went though in the last years but I see we have a dedicated community who loves the game.
@Kedhrin + tChr:
I can fuilly understand your sides. And I hope this all will be sorted out and both projects will be able to profit somehow. But coming back to what I've written above I can also understand the declining reaction of others.
Plus I think the naming is just not... perfect. Nexuiz, GPL Nexuiz - I guess many *new* gamers will jus tnot see different projects here. Not with the current site, not with *this* naming-convention. But they will see the console version.
Again, another point why the current players might feel left out of the whole process.
Dunno if I am right, dunno if I am wrong...
Thing is: When I visited the page last night my first thought was: "Oh, GPL Nexuiz is dead, it will be succeeded/replaced by the console version."
