If you are a server admin and pointed your sv_curl_defaulturl to http://141.2.16.3:7780/nex/maps/inofficial/ or http://141.2.16.3:7780/nex/maps/attic/, please do not run these maps on your server on Monday and maybe still Tuesday. I will reinstall the operating system on the server and in the meantime, the map downloads from it won't work.

If you want to mirror them somewhere, please download the full package from http://mensa.ath.cx/~polzer/temp/nexmaps.zip and extract it on some server. If possible, post the URL here then. Thanks. This URL will stay up during the reinstall, but probably I will delete it in some weeks.

I am working on a distributed download system for nexuiz content. If you own a server that can host some ,megabytes for this purpose, let me know.

I could, but would want two things then:

• control about what I host (so I don't get sued when people packed warez as PK3s) {unless it's meant to be perfectly anonymous (like Freenet), but such a network would be too slow for in-game download}
• control about what your server process does (which means source and a short distribution of the actual protocol - I for sure won't run a binary of unknown functionality in my network).

Of course, if your distributed download system is just a HTTP server that sends out redirects for the existing download system (and links to "conventional" HTTP storage), these points wouldn't apply and I'd be in immediately.

Yes,.,. the basic idea is just that people tell the redirector what/where they host, the redirector sends the downloads requeste to the (hopefully) closest server for the user.

So it works with normal HTTP?

Do you even need to modify the engine for that? A redirection system could work completely without any changes to the engine, because the download library respects HTTP redirects (which I've tested too). I would happily host some stuff there, but if possible, I'd prefer to use the same directory as my normal map download directory for that.

No you dont need to modify the engine at all.. I'm just sturucturing a system where you can distribute workload for downloads i.e
