Postby tChr » Wed Mar 15, 2006 11:05 pm

Well I played against xant.

He won.

I typed the scores around (his for mine and the opposite)

He accepted :)

Its even worse it seems..

I discovered this error and tried to edit it and did, but xant loaded his confirmation page before I edited, and he submitted submitted after.

If you look at
http://www.planetnexuiz.com/ladder/inde ... ails&id=52
The scores are correct but the recieved ELO points are incorrect.. I think.

It does seem like the points were calculated correctly, but with the number first endered, thats my socre for xants and his for mine, and additionally my "editing" of the score was stored, but the ELO was stored when xant accepted the incorrect score...

Edit:
I know this is an user error, but we still have to fix it :)

According to the match details I was awarded 23 ELO points, and xants lost 23. However this is not correct:
Points as folows:

xant before match: 1002
xant now: 979

tChr before match: 960
tChr now: 983

According to the ELO calculator this is corret if the result was
Map score: 55 - 6 in my favour.

However the score was 55 - 6 in xant's favor wich the calculator tells me should yield:
-17 for me, and +17 for xant, thus ending us at:

xant corrected: 1019
tChr corrected: 943

I have the points recalculated .. it should be fine now

I'll try to find the bug by also entering this result on my local copy, but I'm not sure how this could have happened as the code that calculates that is the same (it get's calculated when accepting the report and also if I, as admin, edit the report. I jsut edited the report (and didn't change anything) and the numbers were calculated correctly then, so ....)

I think what happened was this:

I Filed the report.
Xant entered the page and started adding his comment
I changed the score, and posted the change
Xant posted his acceptance.

in that order :)

Unless my browser is broken, tChr gained 3 points for losing to SickChicken.

That is correct, cause I am ranked way below him. He should have beat me far more, considering he has a 1000 points and I only had 909. this is how the ELO system does its calculations, and it ends up pretty correct over a little time :)

If we both had been ranked at 1000, I had lost three and ha had gotten three.

If you think about it it makes sense.

There is a ELO calculator which you can use to play around with those points.
A ELO system is said to take around 20 matches (per person) till its beginning to show what can be considered the 'real points'..
