kojak vs m0rfar

Postby tChr » Fri Apr 07, 2006 12:36 am

The word on the street is that kojak is playing m0rfar on sunday 2006-04-09 around 19:00 CEST / 18:00 BST (British Summer Time).

They are currently ranked 1st and 3rd on the ladder, with 1139 and 1084 points, so this is probably going to be a real exiting match. The same word on the street tells me that the maps played are going to be nexdm03 and nexdmextra2, the latter considered as both players "home map".

Now this is gonna be freakin interesting!

Kojak is as we all know a very good player.. So is morfar. Both players has zero(!) losses on their ladder stats, and this will surely not end until one of them is a winner. I cannot imagine either player letting this ending even.

Kojak is insane with the Mortar, wich both these maps have, then again so is Morfar, and imo a mortar vs mortar fight with good players would be chaos, so itd be exiting to see if any of then choose some interesting weapons tactic for these matches. I'd say Kojak is just a bit better with the nex than morfar is, at least to some degree, so maybe morfar will try and drag the battles a bit away from the open places. In narrow spaces the mortar is best for spamming nonetheless, and these players moving skills make them less vunerable to this. Both players has very, very good aim. Allthough I could not tell them apart in normal gameplay, Kojak is imo better at aiming during high speed/heavy movement.

Even though both are very skilled players, i think there are some differences in player style. m0rfar is a killer, and seems cool and concentrated about it, activly searching for the opponent rather than moving tactical only. Kojak is more of a berzerk. A very skilled and controlled berzerk, but is more agressive and out there. Kojak is also very good at moving the map in effective patterns, and going for the opponent on sight. They are both very good at predicting player moves, but I think m0rfar is just a tad better at guessing where the opponent will show up.

extra2 is a map where a lucky frag can turn the game around, and I think the outcome of extra2 will be quite tight. Extra2 will either be a colossal loss to one of them, or very even. i'd guess on pretty even. In wich case 03 will decide the outcome of the match.

dm03 is kinda out there, imo. Its a map thats kinda hard to totally control, unless the players are very uneven, not too much health, and just one full armor. The one that controls the armor areas are likely to dominate, however a skilled player can quite easily break the domination here, especially since the mortar, MH and Nex is fully accesible without getting in the LOF of someone controlling the armor area. I think this map will wave back and forth some. maybe putting one ahead 3-4 frags before the other one starts catching up. Due to the lack of armor, i think the Nex will be the most important tool to finish off the opponent here. At least for the dominating player.

Cant wait to see this.

As for the winner. My guess is:
extra2: marginal victory to kojak. maybe 32-28 (ish)
dm03: victory to kojak 25 - 15 (ish)

Please share your predictions about this game.

A nice read/prediction, thankyou for making one, the game should be played on sunday at 18:00 GMT/19:00 cet like tChr says, i think he is (got to ask green?) to set up perhaps some spectator slot for himself, not sure at the moment.

I'd agree with m0rfar being better at predicting, a lack of playing enough for me is the problem in this case, and not having the opportunity to play him enough, practicing.

here's some from the other players.

<luna> I expect you to win kojn. Morfar is a strong player, but I've never seen him time items like you do.

<[NSB]tChr> comon all.. lets put the pressure on kojak :)

please right your own oppinions :)

well, spectator slots won't be allowed (see Rules Page ^^) but as you both might upload the demos the people gonna get what they want anyway ^^

I can't predict a score, but I would say that it will be not that even, rather a 3:2 ratio or so for the winner

I was hopoing you could make me a temp admin or so, so that I could be called in as a spectator :D Also it would be gret if you could spectate with me, and noth of us also creatin free-fly demos. Both players agree to this.

The reason for this is that people have asked for continous updating during the match, and I'd like to create a video out of this, and some free-fly footage would be good :)

Well m0rfar already lost a map to me, but the overall win was his because of frags.. Good for him that map is not played :)
I saw kojaks name in an UT movie those days and he got shot.. guess thats a sign he'll go down :)
