The worst possible CTF team mate you could get at this time is me. Really, I don't even know where the flag is on most maps because I played so little CTF so far because of low ram (problem solved it seems :P). And I have a bad habit of being a complete retard and shooting people I probably shouldn't shoot .

Ahh i really doubt you are that bad a teammate. But you remind me that i never really wrote in my CTF guide that you can recognize your team color from your gun color or the color beside your name in the scoreboard ;)
And learning the maps.. well most are rather easy.. there are even a few were you can see the flags all the time or at least get the idea were it is.
The rest is rather easy, do not take stuff away from your team mates. Try to keep an eye on how many people are IN the base before rushing out and leaving it unguarded..
Learning the map comes with time and only a few are confusing imo.

Yeah, I sometimes see people running AWAY from our base when we have the flag and there's nobody else there so it's not protected. That's annoying.

Im recently getting annoyed of good players stopping matches right at the start because the teams are slightly unbalanced, they are making it unbalanced themselves aswell. Imo, winning is not everything and when being highly offenced, you learn to defence etc.

It's true, at least I do that sometimes. But I follow one of two ways when I spectate. Either I wait and see (if teams are even) to see which team is better and also see what players is on either team. I know most of the players skill so it's easy for me to join the "worse" team. But I generally join right the second the map has loaded.

And the other reason why I spectate is cause it's so darn fun to watch people from above running and fragging each other. They look like confused ants and I laugh like hell when I see that. :) Best map for that is the "maze"-map (don't know the name). They really look like confused ants running all over the place xD

heh, spectating in vitaminea indeed is awesome. Ive seen some people spectating for matches until there is one where the teams are even or something and entering, i found it sort of lame.

The CTF player types that annoy me the most are not on the list:

The Enemy-Flag-Respawn Fetishist - This player heads towards the enemy base as soon as he is spawned to get the enemy flag, even if his team's flag carrier is right next to him with several enemies chasing him. This player does not pay attention to the flag carrier and will often not notice that the enemy flag has been dropped nearby... instead of picking it up, he will rush the enemy base to get it when it respawns. This player never defends either but instead simply expect the rest of the team to make sure that the flag is there when he gets back to base. Despite being a bad teammate, this player will usually manage to capture the flag and thus feel that he has done well.

The Overconfident Flag Carrier - Similar to the Arrogant Showoff, this is the player who, after returning to base with the enemy flag and finding that the flag has been taken, will head back to the enemy base to retrieve the flag himself while still carrying the flag. Often this results in a free flag return deliver service for the enemy team who then score. Obviously when you outclass the other team's players, this is a viable strategy, but that is often not the case, and even when it is the flag is often lost.

Yeah, and very often they leave me alone in the base.

But serious again: don't forget that the base also should be guarded when the flag is not there. Very often I see our own base occupied by the other team, so returning the flag is in vain...
