Wow, I have to choose between both?
I have definately played hundreds more hours in Nexuiz, from pre-release to curretn SVN builds, watched it progress, and watched it evolve.
I played Warsow last year, thew alpha. Not much was there, not much worked.
I downloaded it again, alongside the newest Nexuiz SVN.
When I loaded up Nexuiz, it was smoother and faster than before. New maps, new weapon dynamics, new options. I liked it, it felt like a woman who had recently taken the time to fix herself up. Csometic changes, dressed up, but at the core, still the familiar and beautiful game.
Warsow on the other hand had changed copmletely from one thing to another. I wass thrust into the smooth framerate, visually pleasing game unlike anything else I'd tried before. Sprites for items: brilliant! Cel (fake I know) shading: magnificent! For once in a long time I wass out of my comfort zone - I was a newb again. I can go from Nexuiz to Sauerbraten with no learning curve, to Unreal Tournament. Simple. But Warsow provided the excitement of learning new fresh gameplay.
The jumping is still a little unporedictable, I'm a newb again - it feels like the first time for me. I'm getting all nostalgic and feeling what it was like to load up that alpha of Nexuiz, or how I found myself lost in the first FPS I played: UT2003 demo. A lot fo the players are french, and although I speak french, their french leet is beyond me. It was like the firs titme you see 'GG' and wonder what it means.
I must say that by now, Nexuiz has lodged itself into a place in me where navigating feels natural, it feels like an extension of me. Warsow seems like holding something yoiu're unsure of, it give you a rush and excitement.
I love how smoothly they both run, both capable of looking excellent in their chosen visual styles. I really enjoy the cel-shading. The planar shadows in Warsow provide more semblance of shadowing than me having to turn of all RTlights on my machine under Nexuiz. I am very pleased that we now have 2 commercial quality open-source cross-platform games to choose from.
@Cervix: I don't think advertising your game to another open-source game forum is a troll or bad: I think it's very welcome. I think the Nexuiz community and the Warsow community have a lot to offer each other, and the players would appreciate the difference betweent the games and enjoy both. (the Alien Arena community has been less than helpful)
Keep up the good work everybody, and keep up the gaming and support!
