This messes me up when switching weapons. I think the HUD should be made like the HUD in UT2004, that way you can always see what weapons you have. Instead of showing all the weapons and just having the ones you don't have grayed out though, it should only display the weapons you have, and if you have a weapon that has no ammo, it should be displayed but grayed out. This would make things a lot easier.
