ABout the name change, it's not ok, I'm used to the crylink, and I'm not confused with the electro.
You might not be confused, but other people obviously are. I have no problem with the name of the crylink, although obviously if the weapon becomes something else the name would likely change along with it. But how is the electro in any way related to electricity? I know that plasma is comprised of high-energy atoms in which the electrons have broken their valences, but that still doesn't make the name electro an obvious choice. "Electro" implies electricity—I assumed when I first started mapping keys to weapons before starting playing that it was a lightning gun of some sort (and I think that's a reasonable assumption still), so I mapped it to the key that I usually map the lightning gun (or equivalent) to. But it's nothing like the lightning gun, and doesn't seem remotely electric, because it's actually a plasma gun. The primary fire is obviously a plasma bolt, and the secondary fire is some kind of weird solid plasma containment spheres. The weapon just doesn't do what its name says it does.
I don't mean to be aggressive in disagreeing with you; I just think it's a dumb and misleading name. And I realize that it doesn't
really matter (I mean, c'mon, it's just a game!) But still though :P
