Making the crylink useful

A lightning gun that increases in strength over distance sounds really stupid imo.

A q3 style lightning gun could be usefully BUT its rater close the the machine gun. I would rather see the machine gun getting a slight boost in fire rate and decrease in damage, and see something original, or at least different from the other nexuiz guns, for the crylink.

A arching lightning gun would be interesting, but proly needs csqc for any kinda sensible implementation (well all lightning guns do i think)

A constant beam weapon that drains life from your target and gives a % of it back to you perhaps :D

Quake 1 had a lightning gun so not really.

But i'm pretty shure q1 had at least the effect hardcoded client side. Last time i tried a lightning-gun-crylink it was lagging awfully, even in local games, because a server side beam effect updates only at 25fps. (or did the q1 ligthning gun also lag like that?)

To take this totally off topic I propose a RANDOM weapon mode where at each weapon has about 3 different, randomly spawned, fire modes. Total chaos. Total balance (?)

..or maybe a bigger, better tMod. :D

As a secondary fire mode.

We can still have something along the lines of the current Crylink primary fire for the primary fire mode, or whatever works for balance, really.

It certainly would make the maps with Crylinks more interesting for CTF and regular gameplay.

Cloaking would be silly in nexuiz for a normal weopen...

Can lots of bouncy projectiles cause problems? Maybe something with bouncy nails would be cool.
