Nex Zoom

Postby Genegineer » Sun May 06, 2007 12:22 am

I'm not sure if this is the ight place for this. How can I get the the nex alt-fire zoom better? I already got a mouse 3 bind for better zoom, but it still is a little awkward for me . I'm sure it has somethins to do with another alias, but I can't find the info. Thx!!

No idea what you mean, but Nexuiz 2.3 will have customizable zoom.
1. Open Notepad
2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
3. Save
4. Open the file in Notepad again

You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.

Do you mean to zoom in further?

He means that on 2.3 server (like his rbi servers) you can change settings to customize the zooming.

Best set them before you join a game.
seta cl_zoomfactor 5 // how much +zoom will zoom (1-16)
seta cl_zoomspeed 3.5 // how fast it will zoom (0.5-16), negative values (-1 for example) mean instant zoom

hmm but what about sensitivity change? or do I need to continue to use an alias for that?

The new zoom in 2.3 will automatically decrease sensitivity proportional to the zoom level.

It actually already does.

Is there a way to toggle the zoom?

Yes, if you really want:

bind z zoomtoggle
alias zoomtoggle zoomtoggle_on
alias zoomtoggle_on "alias zoomtoggle zoomtoggle_off; +zoom"
alias zoomtoggle_off "alias zoomtoggle zoomtoggle_on; -zoom"

However, you can then just as well...

bind z zoomtoggle
alias zoomtoggle zoomtoggle_on
alias zoomtoggle_on "alias zoomtoggle zoomtoggle_off; fov 30; sensitivity 5"
alias zoomtoggle_off "alias zoomtoggle zoomtoggle_on; fov 90; sensitivity 13"
1. Open Notepad
2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
3. Save
4. Open the file in Notepad again

You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.

I currently have mouse2 set to zoom.

Is there any way that, while zoomed in, I could use the scroll wheel to increase/decrease the zoom amount?

That would rock....
