yes, I used to do that in 1.5 iirc :) but it was called nexdm14 then.
It's a good trick to fool the opponent... but not anymore I guess.. now that most know about this :)

I find it incredibly hard to do. Rocket jumping is much easier :).

Laser-padding as high as you're going, is insane, lol. For me, it never get me that high. Also, laser-padding is only really useful if there's no grapple. Rocket-padding is kinda fun, because it's basically committing suicide heh heh.

to laserpad, you don't even have to aim down if the pad is at an incline. (such as evilspace pads) aim ahead, and shoot just as you hit the pad. practice a bit, and you'll get it.

Another useful laser technique is boosting off of a nearby wall. For example, use the jump pad near the base in Capture City, but instead of laser padding, shoot the laser sideways at the wall closest to you just after you are launched off the jump pad.

Since you are moving up quickly, the laser blast hits below you and gives you an extra boost up. You can easily get high enough to land on the tower that has the mega health.

You can use this technique to move forward faster too. If you are beside a wall, turn and shoot the wall for a boost. The angle that gives the most speed depends on how fast you are going. If you are moving quickly, shoot to the side. If you are going slower, shoot behind a little bit.
So much to do, so little time to do it

Actually, if the glitch with the hook isn't fixed, your hook clings to the spot it hit, so you can just hook the top platform on mentalspace when it's at the apex, and wait for it to slide down. I don't know if it was fixed with the new hooks on Galt's Gulch (you can now reliably hook on to others.)

I think the way the laser passing actually works is due to the positioning of the Trigger_Push since its generally slightly above the pad its self. Basically you laserjump just before it so you hit the trigger as soon as you leave the ground.

Thats how I've rationalised it anyway.
Possibly not the worst mapper in the world.

This laserpadding just works because the 'explosion' from the laser mixes with the push from the jumppad. Basicly its working with all explosive weapons. But the laser is most useful as you always have it and it takes away the least health.

I think that hook thing was fixed but it does not really belong here.. And Galts server is just one of the few running the development version to help with tesitng stuff.

Well, it won't exactly fool anyone on that map anymore, but it's still a useful trick as it avoids (in most cases) getting nexed into oblivion from an opponent crouching down at the far corner waiting for you to use the jumppad.
