I have read all these posts and I find them interesting, I always thought lasering teammates was a good thing to do when I was fc'ing and needed say, a rocket launcher that some unconscientous teammate of mine was taking.
Most people do not realize how important those things are for capping quickly.
I am def guilty of lasering teammates and was not aware it was much of a problem, as I have always figured those people would have the time to stop and think why I needed to get my hands on some quality weapons, but I realize now that is not the best thing to do.
I guess I just expect galt's to be more team oriented when the reality is that it is far from it.
As far as switching teams, the scoreboard design means I have to actually stop and count for like 10 seconds to see if my team is 9v7 and thus switch over.
I usually stay on the losing team no matter what, I rarely quit in the middle of a game unless I get this confounded driver error I will be posting about soon in the tech help forum.
There really is no way to get better if you leave when your losing or switch teams and end up unevening things anymore.
If anything wouldn't it make someone proud to know they were on a team and all their newbie teammates and maybe one other good person was able to defeat a stacked team???>
To me that makes me feel great and I think it helps the newbies feel good to. I mean think about it, if a team full of newbs that is still trying to get to a point where they can frag someone like Icarus competitively without getting run into the dirt, wins against a stacked team with only one or two guys helping them, it would prolly make them feel really good.
They could say to themselves "HEY WE BEAT THAT TEAM!".
For me nexuiz is all about the team.
I am kind of with nifrek on the BDE guys thing too, they had some good potential but it's too bad they cannot refrain from seriously stirring the pot when it's empty.
Also, I would defend the act of spawnraping if my fc is explicitly going to grab the enemy's flag as it immobilizes the other team.
I usually only spawn rape when I have amp and try to do it when I have an FC about to go in, as in this scenario it is not about an easy way to point whore so much as it is about my FC getting back to the base with no trouble.
Just wanted to make that distinction on spawn raping, as if done correctly (as in don't spend half the game spawn raping people behind the base on Facing Worlds just for the fun of it) it is a legitimate if disgusting tactic.
For me playing middle/wingman or FC is where CTF is at in nexuiz.
Middle/wingman being my fav, and as such I usually enjoy fragging the begeezus out of people who cross mid, ESPECIALLY when my FC is coming back home to score.
Also, I am not the rev0 that Obi kicked as I can be quite an ass at times.
