Invisibility and health on instagib

I don't know if this has changed with 2.4.1, or if it's some different graphics settings on my part, but lately I pretty much can't see a player that has invisibility, even if I'm right in front of them. There's still something, but if I don't see them shooting, I'll likely miss them.

I don't think that is all that great. Especially on instagib where 30 sec. of invisibility can give a serious frag boost.

- This might be a thing for the mappers but I also think the 3 extra lives you get with extra health is also too much of an edge for just picking up one item.

It has not changed, but yes, invisibility should make players "mostly invisible". IMHO players still are TOO visible with it...

Also, this item is a powerup, which doesn't spawn very often. This status is reserved for such strong items. Just like that "megahealth" like item in minstagib is a powerup.

One could however argue that the shield powerup is too weak compared to the other two. To that I agree, but think of someone having speed AND invisibiity... that guy will be mostly invincible.
1. Open Notepad
2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
3. Save
4. Open the file in Notepad again

You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.

Well, everybody knows I spend almost every lunch break on DCC Pussy delight, together with my colleague. He knows the location of the powerups on every map, and he knows the fastest way to get there from the beginning.

Other than in RL, his type of gameplay isn't very gentlemanlike and he uses his knowledge and skills the same way against noobs and experienced players. He's a typefragger and scaring unexperienced players off the server. Okay, I'm moving off topic.

I rather agree with oskar, the invisibility powerup makes players too invisible with the current version. And yet it spawns as often as other powerups do.

But hey, we're talking about Minstagib, a mode where stuff like "fairness" or "balance" shouldn't be discussed too serious.

Minstagib with powerups is joke in itself. Whole mode is made to improve aim.

And alien, i never knew you invented mInstgib! (how else would you know the purpose of it.. oh wait are we expressing personal opinions as absolute facts again?) And, How does the ammo drops help your aim?

Since there are no other weapons, ammo or other types of pickups to collect, gameplay tends to be very fast-paced with a heavy emphasis on reflexes, hand-eye coordination and positioning, as opposed to resource management and control.

Nope, that's not 100% full correct for minstagib. In minsta, you have ammo for only 10 shots, so you can't spam with the minstanex. If you're out of ammo, you'll be auto-killed in 5 seconds (iirc), so you need to pickup the others' nexes to gain more ammo.
Speed makes you faster, but if you jump, you jump higher and float down slowly, making you a vulnareble target.
Invisibility is fun :D

Btw. I had a good laugh on the "disclaimer" :P

I expect it to make you more opaque, not completely invisible. In Q3 I think total invisibility was fine because it was only spawned on CTF maps, and you became visible once you carried the flag. On instagib you can go on a serious killing spree with it.
Same with +3 lifes - this one is even worse in 1:1.

But hey, we're talking about Minstagib, a mode where stuff like "fairness" or "balance" shouldn't be discussed too serious.

I can't agree with this. I think it's the purest game mode. Not very balanced if you're talking about balance between skill levels, but it's the game mode with the least amount of luck involved, and where players who know a map would not have a serious advantage, if it weren't for the powerups.

Alien didn't invent Minstagib. That was tChr. So he's the one to blame. And we might ask him to decide about the grade of invisibilitynessicity.
