Arena mode defaults

arena mode is cool, but very dependant on spawnpoint, there for I think that strength and other powerups should be disabled in the arenas by default. Like in aneurysm, the one swaning close to the strength, wins.. new eleectro and strenght is a deadly combo :)

I agree with you there. On runningman for example, the one that spawns near Nex wins.
Maybe arena mode should scramble the item spawnpoints (after every round)?

edit: My suggestion doesn't solve the issue, you could still spawn near a nex. But the players can't run for it at its regular spawnpoint, which is good

I don't like it that the arena mode always has spawn-point-pairs. if I play some rounds I do know that my enemy spawns at location Y if I spawn at location X

ahh. so that what happens.. I though there was a pettern.. no i dont think thats smart either.. The ideas is good, but what about making spaw-point triplets or something, so that they are far enough apart, but you dont know exactly where the opponent is?

@powerups: done, though i added a cvar to renable them (e.g. for non-roundbased arena matches or matches with more than 2 players)

@spawn points: well, the first players spawn point i chosen randomly, all other points are chosen as far away as possible from the first one. That system is not really perfect, but it solves the main issue (players sometimes spawned next to each other) i had while testing pretty well.

powerups: did you remove MH and strenght ? I'd recommend to just remove strenght and leave MH in

spawn points: well, when I played farewell I had the situation to always spawn VERY near to the enemy (10m away). both of us spawned close to the MH there. I was always above the MH and the enemy always below it (at the platform where the jumppad is, while I was on the platform where you get once you use the jumppad.

I removed all powerups (strength, megahealth & shield). Imho if you just want do disable specific powerups, you can use the g_powerup_* cvars.
