lol .. That's just morphed testing his new particles, to be spawned when onslaught generators get damaged. But yeah it could be seen as a nice flamethrower :)

the reason the tag was removed was because it required no skill according to LordHavoc. so neither of these guns are going to get his approval.

however, both get mine. :D

A crazy idea: what if this fireball steals weapons from the players? :D

Perhaps it would be an idea to look at other ways in which weapons could effect players to make things more interesting.

We already have this with some weapons such as the crylink stealing peoples speed, the laser to knock people off maps and the nex to throw our team mates at rediculous speeds.

Perhaps a weapon that does damage over time or one which freezes a player in place for a second (abusable much, although maybe too similar to the grav bomb :P ) or causes the screen to blur/change colour or generally impede view.

Infact I cant really think of anything in nex that hasnt been done, I'm out of ideas other than creating a 'superweapon' like the BFG etc.
Possibly not the worst mapper in the world.

IMO the hook's secondary kind of does this already, but a BFG would be pretty sweet for Nexuiz. Then again, I'm not sure how well it would work in a fast paced game like Nexuiz.

Theres always the option of creating a weapon that puts out deployables such as prox mines, forcefields, turrets and the like. Support for this might also be useful for some of the mods that have been mentioned like the nexuiz team fortress thing. Also good for ONS and Assault.

A proximity homing missile would be something we don't have already, and it would get around the complaint LordHavoc had about the TAG missiles.

Because with those, your aiming skills had no direct influence on whether or not the missiles hit. But if the missiles were dumb until they got very close to an enemy and then they started tracking him while being heavily encumbered by a wide turning radius (so that they wouldn't be unstoppable at close range), that would make aiming still very important with such a weapon.

This fireball is the only other solid option, because it has the unique ability of damaging things in a certain radius from itself without have to explode. It's a unique kind of splash damage.

A flamethower alternate fire might play on this further- it could paint walls and floors with fire that continuously burns anyone that approaches them and like your suggestion it could stick to a player to continually burn him (and if he eats enough of it, getting to a hp in time would be his only chance).

Reminds me of the auto-tracking machine guns from Raptor (Old-ass DOS classic). I think a good replacement for the TAG seeker would be an auto-lob type weapon. Anybody who has played Twisted Metal 4 would know that weapon quite well, it was a green weapon that launched into the air and then rained down small bombs doing a good chunk of damage if every single bomb hit a target.

I love Twisted Metal 4, though I don't see that weapon working very well without a large amount of skill.
