counter strike mod

Postby CerbuL » Mon Sep 25, 2006 12:56 pm

Hi everyone. i was once quake fan, but because all other players started to play counter strike i took the same way.
but i hate it because counter strike engine is fps based(fps affect mouse sensitivity), alot of mouse strugle, and alot of other stupid things that i really hate because they are making me nervous not hitting a target that i put my crosshair on, running and jumping are almost useless and no "combat skills" are usefull.
I started to like the weapons and the gameplay and the ideea of playing with my friends drinking my cofee and talking about strategies...
is there any way to make a mod similar to counter strike?
everything different, but 5 on 5 and a bomb. :p
is you engine made so that nothing affects mouse movement?
quake 3 is so. no mather what you do, no mather how many fps, the mouse works perfectly.

I don't think we will make a mod like Counterstrike. However, what I was planning to do when I have too much time on my hands: a CS-like mode (two teams, two or three bomb spots, one bomb, the bombing or surviving team wins). It will NOT play like a realistic FPS, it will use normal unrealistic Nexuiz gameplay then since I like it. And I don't think there will be buying, but maybe weapons at fixed spots near the bases that only respawn once each round.

A problem like you reported is not known for Nexuiz.

However, if you want something on the Q3A engine, you may want to try Q3:Urban Terror, and for the UT engine you can get Tactical Ops. Both of them are realistic tactical shooters.
1. Open Notepad
2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
3. Save
4. Open the file in Notepad again

You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.

There was a Nex-life mod made to include in-game currency and weapon purchasing, though I don't know that it's been worked on much in a while, and I think the game modes were just standard Nex fair with a flashlight and weapon buying thrown in - which could, really, be implemented into a bombing mod pretty well.

Yeah, it also could run Counterstrike maps if I remember right. Even came with a couple, I think.

It was called NexLife but it was for an older version of Nexuiz.. it propably does not work with Nexuiz 2.x version (at least not without changes to the mod)
Oh.. the download links in the wiki seems to be broken. http://alientrap.org/wiki/pmwiki.php?n=Main.GameMods

Why is it all requests for Counter-Strike mods (we've had a fair few) all seem to come from people who have no concept of capital letters? Or worse still, NO CONCEPT OF LOWER CASE LETTERS.
Laters losers.

;)

Seriously, I quite liked Tactical Ops for good ol' UT. But if I ever implement such a thing, it would need to be "true" to Nexuiz, which would mean: Nexuiz weapons, Nexuiz damage, Nexuiz gameplay. No buying of weapons stuff, maybe a weapon selection like in Q3:Urban Terror, maybe just spawned weapons.

BTW: CerbuL did use a capital letter... :P

Weapon selection would be cool for a tacticaly advantage of sorts, but I agree that it'd have to be Nex-style in every other respect.
