you can paste all that stuff into a file called config.cfg which you can find in the data folder.

You could also just open the console and type exec n_low.cfg, enter and type vid_restart and enter.

But I rather think you've got some bad drivers. For Nexuiz you need a proper openGL support. There was another guy posting about heavy lags with an X1300@Vista in the support thread. He updated his drivers and his performance problems were solved.

Yep. Drivers. I have the same lag problem as the guy above. I am using an Nvidia card though but when I jumped from 91.something to Forceware 94.24, the lagginess minimized greatly.

You might also want to disable effects; I noticed that setting posed the greatest lag on my gameplay even while my FPS pushed well beyond the 50-60 mark. (Bump mapping doesn't affect lag however.)

I hope this helps.

I know this is an old thread - but I figured I should put in my two-cents.

I noticed that the particles can be the major problem for me at times, ...so with certain maps, I just turn them down to 35 or so (I usually have them at 75 or full), ...however, if there's rain?....I turn off particles completely and it solves the problem instantly.

Another thing is under the video-options, select the box that says:
"Use GLSL to handle color control"

When I finally turned this option ON - I notced a much better framerate, the lagg went down, and the colours are absolutely beautiful now, ...as opposed to when I thought my own settings should work better, ...boy was I wrong. Definitely use the GLSL option.

Strange. When I use that, my framerate is effectively almost halved.

I used to have that problem too. Not anymore (now my FPS are equal, no matter which value I use for that): I changed nothing (like HW) on my end. Now I use GLSL for handling color control all the time.

The files for empty gibs are both gone.

Just disable the gibs in menu.
