What does "client side movement prediction" do?

I disabled it and wow! the game is now running fine! I can run it at 1024 resolution, 0AA, 0AF, Textures best, all effects off except for Bloom, Decals, Gloss, and Bumpmapping.

In online play, I probably have to disable gloss and bumpmapping as the game still isn't as optimized as commercial releases but hey, it's a looker!

So what did I just disable?

(also "gl_finish 1"; i did that too and it helped --- a BIT. It's the other console command that got rid of the strange online AND offline lag)

I would like to know what these two do. Thanks! Great game! I'll post a review of it in my blogsite soon to spread the word! :D

cl_movement moves your camera before the server tells you where you actually are - so it tries to move you the same way that you will actually move so you get no lag. Even in singleplayer, it reduces movement lag a little.

But it doesn't work perfectly, but good enough for most people and connections.
1. Open Notepad
2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
3. Save
4. Open the file in Notepad again

You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.

A fortune-telling thingy haha! So that's why in some games you do not appear to lag even if you are lagging. Thanks for the info!

What about Gl_finish?
