I think you should really invest on a new motherboard, probably a new processor too since no motherboards I know of in circulation can support a single core and DDR2 RAM. Yeah, DDR1 RAM is so much slower (I think mine is like 266MHz) than DDR2 RAM so it really doesn't make sense for DDR2 to be so much cheaper.
