A top notch video card can put you over the top for some years. not 20 years as it seems like Ed implied. a year to 2 years seems proficient. Hottest FPS games are awesome and having a top notch video card can max out any settings that the FPS game can throw at it. So, for a true gamer/enthusiast, top notch components are a must, if they have the money. And if they dont, they would almost certainly have the motivation for it and find a way to get it. And stop being a twat and sissy and start buying some real components that do justice!!!

What? Ed is just making a point, you're the one being immature, and forcing your views on other people. Also, if top of the line video cards are so necessary for game enthusiasts, why do people still play Quake III Arena (or Quake II, for that matter)?

Btw, nice deal you got there for the DDR1 RAM. There are much more expensive than DDR2 RAM >,> which doesn't make sense.

Yeah, DDR1 RAM is so much slower (I think mine is like 266MHz) than DDR2 RAM so it really doesn't make sense for DDR2 to be so much cheaper.

DDR2 is easier fabricate in comparison to DDR due to a smaller die and lower voltage, therefore lower creation cost and higher yield.

Given 'top-notch' defined as best at the moment, 'top-notch' will only be top-notch for a gap between release cycles.

Multiple generational upgrades will be more efficient and effective than a monotonous, 'top-notch' upgrade, due to technological advancements, for which dated upgrades cannot benefit from.

I challenge you to disclose the quoted passage[s] for which you have interpreted as so.

For objective integrity, a personal preference should never be expressed in the form of a definite, generalized statement.

The assumption 'true gamers' regard graphical detail with great admiration is flawed as a gamer, by definition, is one who plays games, which in turn, by definition, is an activity which conforms to rules, rules indifferent to whichever medium they are presented upon.

Assume nothing, not everyone may think as so.

Yeah Ed, and once you get those components, sign up to gaming forums and be a complete cunt because your hardware is 1337 and everyone who doesn't have the latest components is a loser. If anyone tries to point out what a socially inept troll you've become and tell you that you don't need the latest stuff, that person must be jealous of your indisputable awesomeness and you should instantly unleash your new-found twatiness on him. After all, you've got more fps!

Oh, and move to Texas.

What, you'd like to see my computer? Yes, here's mine:

Not really many components I'd rather spend money on than the ones I went for.

Despite the low noise level you don't see me openly criticing anyone on this forum whose computer dares to break 30dB. I also play Nexuiz at Ultra details at 1920x1200 on a 24" monitor. You don't see me pouring scorn on those people who won't 'grow up and buy a proper monitor'. Now those people should really commit suicide, there's clearly no point in them living as their entire lifestyle is wasting precious natural resources that could be poured into making more high end consumer PC components.

Checks degree certificate, rereads employment history on CV, doubts 3rd party assumption heavily.

I would rather be anally violated with a spade than join your ilk in the mental asylum.

Edit:
Anyway, this is a thread about performance of different graphics cards under Nexuiz. Please lets get back on topic or if there really is merit in this retarded exchange, we can fork this thread off somewhere else.

So, how well does nexuiz work on an EeePC/other sub-notebook?

Just one point.. its not a very good idea to come into a forum and insult people in the only two posts you put online. If you are as grown up as you claim you should have learned to respect others and their ideas. Not even gamers need high class hardware and if people think they rather want low-power hardware and like efficient games thats just as good as people that like fullblown power and games that take advantage off.
Xm4n: Consider this an official warning, i will not accept much more of your insults.

Considering these specs of the latest eeePC1000:

- 1 GB RAM DDR2-533/667
- 1.6 GHz Intel Atom, 45nm Diamondville N270
- Integrated GMA 950

(which look quite similar to an average MacBook) I expect it to be enough to play it in low to medium settings without major drawbacks. These Intel-cards seem to play World of Warcraft, so it should be okay.
Though I'm really no expert on this stuff.

Hey guys...just thought I would throw in my system and the results I'm getting:

Core2Duo E4300 overclocked to 2.53GHZ per core

2 GB RAM

GeForce 7600GT

320 GB Harddrive

Windows XP SP3

On the "High" setting at 1280x1024, I usually get around 200+ FPS from a well made map. Of course this varies depending on the map. Some maps bring that down to around 120 FPS.

On the "Ultra" setting at 1280x1024, I get around 70-130 FPS, again depending on the map.

This system was built in May of 2007 for $600 in parts for Newegg. Now it could be built for MUCH less. It's obviously a killer machine for running Nexuiz.

Esteel: Did I ever insult you? What threat are you bringing upon me?
Lets discuss in another medium instead of here.

All others who negatively criticize me: Go to an official national LAN party and you will find that my posts are true for the hardcore gamer and even the regular gamer (your interpretation is up to you). Lets not be jealous of the parts that one has.
If you are a true gamer, you know what my posts mean and for you posers, don't think and act like you know this, unless you have substantial proof.
Again, lets not "test" and "gang up" on me. You should tread softly, unless you are willing to accept the results from there.
