performance issues on laptop...

Postby estaban » Mon Jan 26, 2009 11:15 pm

i am currently trying to run nexuiz 2.4.2 on my vista laptop, but having terrible performance issues. these are my specs:

core 2 duo 2ghz
2gb ddr2 667 dual channel
ati radeon x1600 mobility 256mb

i know that my system should have no problem running the game, but even with everything at the completely lowest settings, i only get 5-7 frames per second.

i cannot figure it out.
please help

Even though the X1600 doesn't have that tough performance, you should indeed get some more fps. Have you already checked for a new driver version (if possible from july 08 or newer, like the Catalyst 8.8 )?

Sounds like problems with your graphic driver installation.. Or maybe you did not install any yourself and thus the default MS Drivers are installed. Those often do not have (good/proper) OpenGL support. Do as urmel said and try to install a graphics driver downloaded from ati..

i just recently ( as in less than 3 weeks ago ) formatted and reinstalled vista. i downoaded and installed all the latest drivers for all of my hardware... so im not sure what the deal is... but before i formatted, i could run the game just fine with no problems at all.

Have you used the drivers from ATi or from MS? Vista's included drivers are terrible and don't support OpenGL programs like Nexuiz.
