Hi,i can't understand why on my pc(Ubuntu) that is a P4 3.0 Ghz-1024 MB DDR3200-GEFORCE 9500 GT OC i can't play nexuiz with ultimate effects without lags or under 30 fps despite the requirements on the nexuiz site for the high quality are:
- A 1.5 Ghz Intel Pentium 4 chip or AMD Athlon 1500+ or better
- 9600ati or 5700fx or better
- 512 MB of ram or better

It's impossible to run nexuiz 1.0 too on top with this configuration!

Thank for all responses

From what I have been able to ascertain soar, this has to do with the system requirements being a product of the games demands, not the other way around. A great annoyance that we tried to fix to no avail over the years. No matter how we try its still the function of the game and not what we write on the web page that determines what's needed to run the game at the different quality levels.

SCNR

-1 for official requirements. its a marketing thing.
HOF:
<Diablo> the nex is a "game modification"
<Diablo> quake1 never had a weapon like that.
<Vordreller> there was no need for anything over 4GB untill Vista came along
<Samua>]Idea: Fix it? :D
<Samua>Lies, that only applies to other people.

Exactly, that's why I argued that it's impossible to play on geforce2 even on lowest quality. And current recommended should be set to minimum.

Offtopic: Btw, Esteel, your cfg helped but not a lot. Still getting those fps drops below 20.

Actually 'high' quality would be more like the settings the 'high' button give you. The ultimate settings enable some quite demanding settings, and some slightly insane ones. (like the extra sharp reflections). And on the other hand the 9500 should be a lot worse in performance then the 8800m gtx in my laptop, which can do ultimate settings okish, but not like i would want those settings for playing online. I only use that when watching demos!

Basicly i think you expect to much of your hardware..

Alien: Hmm, still strange. The only idea i have right now is to try the startup option: -noocclusionquery
As i said a few times there did not change too much from 2.4.2 to 2.5 that one of the things that came to mind when thinking about it again. I just hope you read that.. I'll try to also get to you on irc..
