Hmm i'll try that, but last time i tried that had no effect on the fps and thus it wasn't really turned off ... I wish to turn it of to gain FPS (and thus maybe yust allowing me to run with shadows on )

I doubt it comes at a 0 fps cost but it should be rather cheap. Well i never tried to make it look best with good fps, i just turned of what i did found
