Personally I dont think its worth. I find Linux to just be a complete hassle. If you are lazy in the slightest I wouldnt recommend it.
Possibly not the worst mapper in the world.

To install linux only to play Nexuiz: no.
To intsall linux to play Nexuiz, and maybe try it for other things: yes.
To install linux and leave windows forever: depends on your goals, but usually YES.

Yes it is worth it, if you can accept that it IS different from Windows. Setting everything up and getting your hardware to work in Linux might not be that easy the first time, depending on what kind of hardware you have of course (everything might just work out of the box). Just use google if you end up having some problems, you'll probably find the problem has been answered somewhere already.

If you decide to give it a shot, no matter how lazy you are: you should definitely learn how to use the terminal. In the end you might find that a lot of tasks are much more convenient, easier and faster through the terminal than using a GUI, and will regret the years you have wasted using Windoze :D

Hey, fanatics! ;) he dident ask if theres hope for lunix as a desktop os, the question was is the possible performance gain (as i read it) was worth using Linux. To this, from my personal experience i have to say: No, i see no gain at all in general. With lowend/old machines or vista this may be a different story tough.
HOF:
<Diablo> the nex is a "game modification"
<Diablo> quake1 never had a weapon like that.
<Vordreller> there was no need for anything over 4GB untill Vista came along
<Samua>]Idea: Fix it? :D
<Samua>Lies, that only applies to other people.

wubi is a no risk solution to dual booting your computer with ubuntu. It creates a virtual disk on your windows partition. It's a great introduction to Linux.

I don't believe the people flaming Linux in this thread have spent enough time with it because distros like ubuntu REALLY AREN'T that troublesome. Any errors you come across, you can easily google and in fact, a large group of members within this community use it and are happy to answer your questions / help you along.

If you're going to run Snow Leopard, maybe. I dual-booted Ubuntu on my MacBook just to play Nexuiz when I get Snow Leopard because it's performance on SL is so bad. It starts faster, but I didn't see a performance increase at all (maybe even saw a little decrease).

Linux is ROUGH! Stay away from it!!! lol clearly reverse psychology, bet you'll try it just cause I said that. lol

For me, Linux IS worth the hassle. It was rough learning it and figuring out how to set stuff up, but once you figure it out you won't want to go back to Windows. After you learn how to make your system work with it and after you figure out how to run your stuff on it (which is different, but not harder most of the time) it'll be smooth sailing from there.

What video card do you have?
I have left this website with the rest of the GPL Nexuiz community. You can find us at Xonotic.org
