<1 FPS, Even on the menu...

Postby Devon » Wed Mar 10, 2010 3:33 pm

I ran Nexuiz on my Dell Studio XPS 16 laptop expecting it to run fairly smoothly. However, I am a bit puzzled as to why I am receiving less than 1 frame per second - even on the lowest video settings.

Here are my systems specs:
Code: Select all
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo P8600 (2.4GHz)
Memory: 4GB - 2DIMM DDR3
Graphics: ATI Mobility RADEON HD 3670 (512MB)
Display: 16.0" 1080p Full HD RGBLED LCD with 2.0 MP Webcam
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate (64 bit)

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what may be the problem?
Thanks

Do you have decent OpenGL drivers installed?

I was actually in the process of updating the drivers when I read your post. The system was running v.8.56.1.15 which was dated 4/24/2009. I'll post back once the download of the new drivers complete and I am able to install them.

Update

Meh, Windows Update took 20 minutes to return a message saying the driver currently installed is the best. I'm now downloading drivers directly from ATI, we'll see how that goes.

Update
---------
Well the latest drivers from Dell failed to do justice but the ones from ATI worked like a charm.

Thanks again. :)

Yes, this is because Windows does not include OpenGL support in any standard graphics drivers. Always use the graphics drivers from the card manufacturer to get worthwhile performance.
Laters losers.
