bad performance after installation of libsdl?

Hi.

I was playing Nexuiz for about 2 weeks on my Ubuntu Laptop (Core Duo 1,8ghz, GeForce Go 7600/PCI/SSE2, 2 gb ram) without any problems (about 120 fps minimum).

yesterday i installed libsdl-sge-dev which was needed by another game. after installing this library i noticed a heavy decreased performance in nexuiz.
maximum fps is now 120. Sound is lagging and the game often hangs for a half second when i fire a weapon.

any idea what went wrong? or if it is really related to libsdl (cant remember doing anything else).
