The RL is looking fine for me.. i tested the beta2 version of that map. Granted the RL is a bit dark but its NOT black here.

Could be a driver issue. I'm running Nexuiz under Windows Vista, using the latest nVidia beta drivers for Vista32 (version 158.18).

Going to look more thoroughly into it tomorrow. Anyhow: Props to the developers for what looks to be shaping up to a great release.

Well, I don't know if this is a bug, but when I was playing I lost sound. It was right when one game ended. When the next map started my sound was gone. No music, nothing. I've been playing all day and this was the only time it happened. So I quit nex and re-started and it was back Anyone have any idea? I looked in the console after it happened and didn't see any thing suspicious, but I could have easily missed it, I only skimmed through it.

Thanks so much to everyone that worked on this. My nex experience is so much better now. All the maps I couldn't play before are all great. 50 to 80 fps all the time. Before when there was six to eight people or more it was like a slide show. Not anymore. :P

Another problem: This patch seems to eliminate my team message key binds. :( Whats up with that?

It should not have, what are these binds?
1. Open Notepad
2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
3. Save
4. Open the file in Notepad again

You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.

BTW for anyone that experiances strange lag/jerkyness try this in the console:
cl_movement_minping 10
The default of 50 might hit a sweet spot for many DSL lines and might get changed for the final version.

Thats the 'worst' fps improvement i found sofar (at my usual low play settings):

You can probably get rid of that problem with r_glsl_offsetmapping 0.

Choppy and unplayable

Postby Obi[BE] » Mon Apr 23, 2007 9:44 pm

Happy happy joy joy, at last something new to play with... but not for me. Downloaded 2.3 in a clean directory, started it and it's completely unplayable.
Tried to change cl_movement_minping 10, not better. Tried SDL: not better.
Changed back to 2.2.3 --> Ok
Copied my config from 2.2.3 to 2.3 --> still choppy
I'm running the windooz version, (all eye candy disabled) and never had issues with this, only when I use 2.3.

Any ideas? It really feels like playing on my old Monster3D card ;)

Well lets find out what causes that laggy movement for you..
I guess you already checked fps? Maybe your graphic card dislikes some of the changes? I can hardly imagine that but its still possible after all.
Then.. does cl_movement 0 help? That turns off the client side prediction and with ping 40 (i saw it online) it should still be ok without prediction. but then we have to find out what goes wrong and why cl_movement_minping does not help.
Have you tested 2.3 in a 'pure' new directory of its own? Not adding pk3 files, nothing at all. Just to make sure nothing else interferes.

Other general things to test are gl_finish 1 and closing all other programs that are running. For some reason sometimes firefox sucks away 50% of my fps :(
