From them it comes red, green, blue etc. colors. I also know that Mech Commander has weapons named Lasers and it's pretty much the same as the laser gun in Nexuiz, except for the fact that it does more damage and not only pushed someone away. (Unless that's the reason you guys want to rename it :P)

Well, I don't think Star Wars qualifies as a valid reference for physics... ;)

Nah, the reason I want to rename the "Laser" is because no laser would act that way. Really useful weapon (on certain levels), but with a completely misguiding name.

Sorry if I bring it somewhat back OT
One thing that's needed imo, is more shotgun pellets. 5 (they are 5, right?) are really too few. I think I read somewhere this was made to save on bandwidth. So how about making the spread non-random (a la CPMA, which is cool but looks ludicrous tbh, and i suspect would cause a revolt), or fake-random: i.e. have the game choose randomly between a number of pre-made spread templates. This way the data sent would be just the same as a single bullet shot plus a number representing the spread shape. I have only the slightest clue about how all of this works behind the curtains bbut i guess this would save bandwidth, right?
The same goes with the crylink, of course, but I'm really with the "crylink -> shaft" party ;)

Yes, the pellets was reduced because of bandwidth.
I read that when CSQC works we can save many bytes of bandwidth on weapon projectiles.
I don't know about your fake-random idea.... divvernt should answer this :P
