New sounds are always welcome for sure! Have i ever seen you on irc or online playing? Visit us, its fun :)

Sorry I missed this note, esteel! (Is there a button to view answers to my threads?)

Most of the time that I play Nexuiz, it's when i'm running my own server for developing sounds, Hahah! Not sure if you've seen me online, ...I've been online only a few times because i'm just not Nexuiz-Ninja material, yet. (One day - I hope to be a Nexuiz-Ninja as well.) But so far, I only win against Advanced bots. Hahah! I suck next to you guys! (I've seen "-z-" YouTube page!) Holy sh1t, he's UNREAL!!! Have you seen this?

No way am I NEAR that good - yet.

I notice most of the community here talks about IRC, ...I haven't had a chance to study it and explore it's safety really, (Sorry if I sound paranoid but i'm a security-freak due to my military past)

Isn't IRC using direct peer-to-peer? If so, doesn't that allow someone to see exactly where you live by your IP? :O

Just asking.

Take care bro!

Being a Nexuiz Ninja doesn't necessarily mean you are a killing machine. It largely consists of your ability to understand, share, inspire or otherwise contribute at a certain level of 'ninja quality'. Striving to create a better environment and experience we can all be proud of and feel a part of by helping others while we help ourselves. Evolving our ideas and rising as a community together through strong moral support and inspiration from fellow ninjaz.

Your sounds certainly qualify.

As such, I'd say you have the heart and I'm happy you've joined the Nexuiz family. Just remember, the key to doing is understanding. Try assimilating your understanding of sound with the game itself.

When connecting to IRC, you are connecting to a server, like all other clients. There is an option to directly connect with another user (DCC) but it must be initiated by one party and accepted by the other.

Your ip will likely be shown unless:
a) The network masks your ip automatically on connect (quakenet does not do this)
b) You sign up with the networks user authentication bot, (quakenet does this but you have to set a flag to mask your IP, someone else will have to clarify how this is done)
c) Use a proxy service, such as the ajax IRC client available at chat.nexuizninjaz.com <-- likely the best solution for a new user.

I'm not sure if this works, but in the settings for your profile you can choose to turn on email notification to the posts you make. I haven't tried this here but other forums has it and it's nice. Getting email as soon as someone replies to a thread that you are subscribed in.

Thank you -Z-!

I would LOVE to be considered part of the official Nexuiz team, ...and would be greatly honoured if my sounds make into the next offical release!

Also, I wasn't sure if you saw this thread:
http://forums.alientrap.local/viewtopic.ph ... 9&start=30

I just released a "Teaser" of some of the Player-sounds I'm currently working on.
http://rear.endoftheinternet.org/~blub/ ... 7fca8b72d3

Included are (incomplete) versions of the Beast (Lycanthrope / Carni), Marine, and Nexuiz-Soldier.

Oh, and check my signature for my latest weapons-sounds, I hope you like those as well!

Cheers! :)

This is my weapons sound pack:

http://ouns.wikispaces.com/space/showim ... eapons.pk3

It is not 100% GPL compliant though, so it cannot be included in an official release. However, listen to them and maybe they will be useful as inspiration. Let me know what you think.

BTW, I also am an audio engineer. I use Cubase and a few other toys. My rig consists of an Audiophile 24/94 interface, multiple mics and preamps and a Core2Duo based DAW. I have quite a few years of experience, most of those in recording music. Let me know if I can be of use.

Take care

Btw, what license does your soundpack have?

To be honest, I don't know much about licensing. I gathered royalty free sound effects from the internet, modified them to better suit the game and made a PK3. Some of the sound are also modifications of the stock sounds. For example, the machine gun sound is the original sound with equalization and some slight reverb. The plasma ball bounce sound is also a stock sound with reverb and EQ to improve it. Same goes for the grenade bounce I believe. So it's a real mix. I just wanted to release something that people could download to quickly improve the sounds.

Well if you do not know enough about licensing, you might be doing something illegal with this pk3 file.. royalty free does not mean you are allowed to do what ever you want..
It might be worth learning something about licensing :)
