Pretty colours in the server menu screen

Postby Spaceman » Mon Jul 28, 2008 6:44 pm

I've added an option to show the server and map names with pretty colours. I've replaced the pause option with a new colour tick box.

I was wondering why this hadn't been implemented before, like in every Quake-ish shooter... :P
Thanks, victim.

Actually, against.

The reason is that the builtin function drawcolorcodedstring does not allow specifying a "master" color - which would be needed so the server name gets colored by ping too.

I want server pings to be visible. That server admins can show colors there is just secondary.

If drawcolorcodedstring DID have a color parameter, it would already apply the colors.
1. Open Notepad
2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
3. Save
4. Open the file in Notepad again

You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.

Why is it that the ping colors are variations of orange anyway? It would be clearer to apply the usual colors (blue/green, yellow, red) to them imo.

The scale is green, yellow, red... and the shades in between are linearily chosen by ping.

The orange colors are basically the yellows, toned down (servers that are empty or full are toned down).

The colors would be still visible, it just wouldn't be on the server name column. It would be applied to all the other columns.

Which is really the minority... it really would be barely visible then.

I think this suggestion is rejected temporarily, but will be applied once we can draw (by engine builtin) with BOTH color codes working AND coloring.
