Thanks for the info about the footsteps DivVerent, I guess I will check those possibilities later then.

However, the new armor sound took me all week to make. *...Jeez.* :(

"Bouncy"?? ...I just ran around with the Mortar - firing secondary WHILE picking up armor - just to check what you were saying, ...but well, they sound nothing alike to me.

I had changed the armor just recently because the last one was compared to a machinegun (apparently mappers keep lining-up the armor-shards). But I have to be direct and honest here guys; This is getting a bit maddening for me because armor really is very hard to 'create' in sound without it sounding like some other games' armor, and I really want Nexuiz's armor to still sound original, ...so, can you guys PLEASE try it out for a week and see if it grows on you? (Change is always strange - at first).

Yeah, about the Original Yoda-announcement, ...i'm sorry C.Brutail, but No. I've read all over the forums now that far too many people just CAN'T understand what's being said in the original. Also - it's too hard for foreigners to figure out the meaning when English isn't their first language and they have no reference to whoever 'Yoda' is. (Not everyone has seen the Star-Wars saga).

Since this game is played multi-nationally, I decided on a word that I know is common enough in foreign countries and they understand from exposure through the world-media, ...hence my simplistic choice of: "Amazing" (And yes, it's MY voice, guys.) ;)

I hope you understand now why I made this fairly important decision.

If you really want to hear the original, ...just open my .pk3 file (7-zip works great and is free to download). Then go into the folders: "sound \ announcer \ male" and in there you can delete the one that says; "yoda.ogg". Then the original (that you prefer)will play for you. Hopefully then everyone will be happy.

For those of you who DO appreciate my hard work, thank you, ...it really IS tough to make these original sounds as well as have time for everything else in my life.

Your appreciation, is appreciated! :)

Bye everyone, ...I'm going to bed now, ....been up all night working on these sounds...

I understand your reasons, but you know, like I've said, it's a legacy, an in-community joke :)
So for an old-timer like me, Yoda will always stay in Nexuiz :D

But what about the alternative - rerecording yoda, making it easier to understand?
1. Open Notepad
2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
3. Save
4. Open the file in Notepad again

You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.

electro bounce, armour shard, nex

Postby kanonmat » Thu Oct 09, 2008 3:40 pm

...amazing...

I have no experience in sound design and I have the 3.5.3 version of the soundpack.

The electro plasmaball bounce is a bit faint and difficult to hear.

I think the armour shard (armor5.wav) pickup seems too much like a weapon firing (a rivet punched through a hole, perhaps). Too much attack. But I don't think it could be confused with a nexuiz weapon, though. The armor25.wav gives me a clear notion of a knight donning armour, sheats of metal sliding into place. Maybe a "smaller" version of that one?

The nex sound is great and I think it fits the weapon better than the old sound. I play some minstagib and would like a bit faster decay on the nexfire.ogg (keep the length). The sound blurs too much with other nexes firing continuously (maybe it would be anyway, not a biggie).

Very impressive work!

And yes, Watchmen is the best graphic novel ever. Black Hole is quite nice too.

Speaking of the nex... I think this Nex sound is perfect for the current Nex model, and the previous one could be used for the (stronger) MinstaNex.

Tenshihan's SoundPack V3.5.5:

Release date: Oct 9, 2008

* New Hagar-Fire and Crylink-Fire sounds.

* Brought UP the level of the Electro-Bounce.

* New (small) 'Armor1' sounds.

* New footsteps.

* New NexFire. (Faster-sounding, yet quieter than the MinstaNex) ;)

See my Signature for download.

PS: DivVerent, did you get a chance to download my "MinstaNex-Sound-Tests.zip" from my Sig, under "FOR_DEVELOPMENT_TEAM" ?

Oh yes, that's it :D

Nex fire is awesome! Reminds me of Quake2 railgun actually :D
Yay! Hagar is back!

But I'm still not sure about the small armor :(

You are very talented :D . I've been using your sounds since the first one, and I've been recommending others to use them as well. I hope you keep up the good work. Nexuiz has some of the best sounds I've heard now. :)

I'd take minstafire2 for the minstanex. Can I already add it to svn (the unfinished one) so I can make the code to use that effect?
