A problem I've noticed...any thoughts?

Postby OverDriven » Mon Oct 13, 2008 9:16 pm

I started playing Nexuiz a few months ago, and CTF was always my favorite. Something has started happening recently that is seriously annoying, and I think it has to do with the influx of n00bs due to the game's increasing popularity. It seems that every time I'm playing on a map where you can "fall off" the edge of the world, some moron on my same team is running around with his laser and popping his team mates off the edge of the map. It's been happening probably 50% of the time I play.

How about creating a server side option that sets whether same-team laser impacts can have any effect on team mates. Besides, do same-team laser impacts have any use? If not, maybe disable them all together?

Thoughts on this?

There is an option of disabling the laser effect on players. Dunno if it's possible for teammates, but I think that should work too. However, I don't know the command. Sometimes it can be useful, I sometimes laser my teammates (only my own flag-carrier mostly) to help him avoid enemy fire or push him so that he gains more speed. I sometimes push my own teammates which I see needs more speed or help from being hit by enemy fire. I don't do this too often though as it might annoy them, only do it when it's really necessary.

However, if there is a guy on the servers that knowingly pushes his teammates of to die you can always kick/kickban him from the server by voting. Typing:
vcall kick #4 / vcall kickban #4
If he has number 4 that is. Type 'status' to see the players numbers. It should work with names as well but I never got it to work.

I don't know what people would think about disabling the same-team push altogether. They probably wouldn't like it, I don't think I would like that either.
