Patch: password protected servers

You come here and all you do is demanding useless stuff.

And yes, players ARE annoyed if a significant amount of the servers in the list are passworded. Here there are different interests clashing:

- the 5 friends that want to meet like the server to be in the list
- the >100 people that do not have the password do not want to be annoyed by your private server

Guess which group of the two I'd rather give what they want.

And I got pretty annoyed by that feature in Unreal Tournament. All the close servers are passworded there.

Really, for passworded servers we need a better solution. What about a clickable link that starts Nexuiz? You could put that link in a protected part of your clan website. An URL handler that starts Nexuiz would be really neat, and also solve your problem in a way that does not annoy other players. Someone with Windows coding experience should do that.

And BTW: yes, every 2nd UT server has a password set. q.e.d.

Well, if by offering ideas what I think can make Nexuiz even better as it is already, you see that as "demanding senseless stuff", then I might stop posting now.

Obviously ideas are not appreciated. Of course you as Dev. decide whats best for your Game, that said, I wish you good luck to any further development of Nexuiz, for being already one of the best Free FPS Games out there.

If you´d like you can delete my other thread with the CPMA Physics thingy. Lets just pretend I didn´t posted it.

LOL, delete my thread.. i'm really bored by such stuff. You made a suggestion and people responded to it. Why is it that people always snap when people do not respond like expected? Thats childish..

And please read my post again and respond to it.. were is there difference in handling a password protected server and sv_public 0 server? I even showed you a possibility to combine the best of both easily. And again: sv_public 0 tell your friends the ip and port.. or sv_password "xyz" and tell your friends the name (or ip and port) AND the password.. complicated?
I'll tell you what the difference is for password servers.. EXTRA WORK. Plain as that. And yes, by the way you act you DEMAND this extra work to be done by people that are already busy with other stuff.
How about this instead: Take this patch you find in this thread, and all the suggestions divVerent gave about, post it in the 'developers needed' thread and ask someone to do the changes and matching Nexuiz menu changes for it? Then when this whole block is complete it might be reevaluated!
But don't snap and act like someone stole your lollipop.. Ideas are welcome, and people are free to implement them. But is it that hard to get that the current devs are already quite busy and that you are not suggesting but demanding? There is a difference in suggesting idea and acting like you do right now.

There also are other ways to do private servers, some of which could be implemented and would not annoy other players.

For example... if you are on a server, what about some player being able to send you the IP of his server, so you can add it as a favorite and it'll show up in the server list even if it is private?
