Music for Desert Factory (opinions welcome)

Postby blkrbt » Mon Apr 13, 2009 2:21 pm

Hi.

I made another song for Nexuiz, Intended for the map "Desert Factory", or a different map if the feeling is it's more suited somewhere else.. or .. well not even on the game if the feeling is it's more suited there :P. "Fabzor3" on the IRC suggested some quite helpful ideas for the song which I implemented.

Did the whole thing with no "undo" function (stupid LMMS0.4.3).

Song is called "Desert3"

OGG is here
LMMS0.4 project file is here

and I declare and distribute it under the GPL2 licence.

Tell me what you think, suggestions and opinions are very welcome.

I really like it, very melodic, dramatic, different.
First I wasn't sure if it fits the map, because it lacks the industrial "dirt".
But after playing with it, I think it's a quite good match.

Or maybe it just felt like it because it simply is a good song :P

Glad you like it :), and I really hope more people like it and it ends up getting included in the game *fingers crossed*.

I was going for more organic, and I really like the Desert Factory map due to it's more organic feel, less of a "we're in a space" sort of feel to it, so I tried to make something that would fit.

I love this music. It's a great departure from the standard "techno" music.

It feels like a movie soundtrack.

Very well done.

Hollywood GTFO this sounds much better than that. Very well done blkrbt. It is a nice departure from the straight techno that's been in the last bunch of releases. I'm really loving these tracks, they're very reminiscent of the kind of stuff used in MechWarrior 2 (maybe even better).

Interesting. I thought LMMS sucked. :P

I'm more used to trackers like Renoise though. You ever tried 'em?

Imba m8 :D this soundtrack totally rocks and Im glad it got included in Nexuiz after all.As for the ''organic'' feeling you say you really managed to get that. You know the rest of nexuiz's techno music along with the sci-fi settings of many maps gave me the impression of a cybernetic-dystopian technocratic world and this map contrasts that rather nicely, like there is still something human left too :P
