That first one is really awsome, it really shows how to play the song :D.
I tried to find a music-composing class at my college: they have NONE.
I'll always suck thusly at music.

In my opinion it probably wouldn't be the coolest idea to sync smoke and stuff like that on Desert Factory, but the ability to have stuff synced to the audio and being able trigger stuff in it (like with that virtual keyboard) opens up a new level of creativity. I'm interested to see what people do with this. I imagine some pretty cool stuff can be done using those techniques.

omfg i totally missed this.
I already had a lot of ideas with syncing music to level effects, so this is just great!
This will definitely influence my way of mapping (i'm already building a map that is just perfect for this). I'd like to know how it works?
I just got that you need a midi file, but what entities are controllable?
lifts? func_bobbing? particle effects?
And can texture parameters be controlled by it (like the switching between different _glow textures comes to my mind or the speed of scrolling textures etc.) that would be awesome, though i doubt that this already works...

div, i love you ;)
Very inspiring and something i've always waited for. This will totally rock.
/me now goes nuts cause me needs to finish rl stuff first.... meh

Well, func_pointparticles and misc_clientmodel can have a bgmscript field, which matches an identifier in the .bgs file.

The .bgs file can be created from a MIDI using a perl script in misc/tools/.
1. Open Notepad
2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
3. Save
4. Open the file in Notepad again

You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.
