Player ignoring

Postby Waterlaz » Fri Jul 24, 2009 7:00 am

There are certain players that realy like to spam a lot while they are on public servers.
And sometimes they just start spaming some random stuff like "GAYGAYGAYGAY"(gee i wonder who that might be? =) in teammesages every second (as much as the server allows them to).

So what I think is, that it would be very nice to have a player blocking feature.
Something like "block #3" to stop recieving any messages from player #3.

Or even better is being able to pass all messages through a script to be able to handle incoming messages the way I want.

Problem is, the message is not networked in a way that allows knowing who sent it.

However, you can always kickban the offending player...
1. Open Notepad
2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
3. Save
4. Open the file in Notepad again

You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.

Unfortunatly a lot of players simply don't vote (I've tried explaining them but it's no use )
And lot's of servers don't have kickban votable thiese days. Just kick. And it's not too much of a use.

Problem is, the message is not networked in a way that allows knowing who sent it.

Well... The message is displayed in a way:
<Playername> : Gayfucking GAYGAYGAY.....
So I'm sure it is at least possible to pars the name out of the message.
It would be realy nice if one could insert his own code(in whatever language is possible) to analyze the incoming message and drop it if needed?.

It would be nice if it was possible to locally block any messages from certain players.
Something like a 'mute' function...

Imho, the simple solution is more admins. There is one guy called "NADZ" who comes on the DCC ctf server and just spams lines of "NADZ" repeatedly.

Trying the old democracy of kicking him doesnt work because not enough people vote.
Possibly not the worst mapper in the world.

It's strange that people are not able to vote. Even if it's a clear case and you tell them it's f1 or f2. What does that tell us about democracy? ^^

Maybe the voting system should be changed.

A vote has been called. You will be kicked if you don't vote in 10...9...8...7...

:P

PS: they even changed the voting system, to make it more obvious that one has to vote now (which it is). Result? Epic fail.
