Engine Performance?

Postby This User Has A Username » Wed Aug 26, 2009 5:03 pm

Hi there,
I've heard hardware occlusion culling is a good way to boost performance, especially on big maps. Are performance improvements such as this planned to be included into Nexuiz? IT's performance isn't as good as other modern engines even though it can be graphically just as good.

I don't know much about occlusion culling, but I know it is pretty tricky to implement correctly. in fact, the best thing you can do with it is to use it to hide lots of things with one really large thing. (example, a mountain with lots of stuff behind it.)

as far as I know, nexuiz doesn't have any really big features like that yet.

unless I am totally wrong :p
Why has a developer ever needed any reason other than "it looks bloody awesome?"
