Damn, I really hope these make it in before the next release, it is getting close.

So where are these themes in the process of getting added anyway? Do the devs need to approve these songs or pick out maps for them?

Still don't seem to be committed... I wonder if they will be :(

By the way blkrbt, maybe it would be better to post new songs on http://dev.alientrap.org/projects/nexuiz/issues as patches. Some forum topics may get lost, but a patch is taken a look at sooner or later. I guess any new content or change can be called a patch imo.

I believe 'feature' is better than patch. As feature is just that, but a patch is something that fixes/changes something more than just content, usually.

However, the current system for music in Nexuiz is bad. Generally it's one song per map, which severely cripples how many songs there can be, especially in official Nexuiz.
I have asked if it was possible to make a playlist of sorts instead so that any music can play on any map. Then all the music you could muster could theoretically be committed. I think motorsep is doing something similar, dunno really I'm not a coder. Something about playback with theora or something.

If you coders are interested you should talk to him or maybe create it yourselves. -_^

Mircea, did you submit these songs and their source as a patch or anything?

Because you might want to just go ahead and do that; it sounded like div already looked at them and thought they were good and tZork and Samual both have given positive comments about these songs on this thread.

No... they're not mine so I'd rather ask before reposting them just in case. But that's good to hear :)

And +1 for a more complex music system. But I disagree with a random picker for all songs, since some music doesn't fit certain maps. My thought on this was allowing more than one track to be specified in mapinfo, so any song from the list could be randomly chosen at map start and after a song finishes.

Although I don't think I have the knowledge to code that, I plan on taking a shot at making a user tracks folder where people can put their own oggs and play them from a menu like UT2k4s user tracks player :)

Well since blkrbt named this thread "Another song for Nexuiz [& Two More]" and released these songs under the GPL, with source files for two of them, it seems like it is fairly safe to submit the two that have source files.

Hopefully he'll stop by again soon and release the sources for the third song too, so that can be submitted as well.

Well, it seems that the next version will get more maps hopefully (depending how soon it comes, but I believe it will be a while), so these songs could be included there. I'll keep an eye on that and on the devs, do a little flirting here and there if needed.

Btw blkrbt. Do you have the source for the third song (Variable) or isn't it finished?

Ahoy hoy.

Been a bit busy, but decided to stop by this thread to see if there was anymore talk. Not sure if those download links are going to keep working for long, since they're on google pages, which switched to google sites, so if these haven't been added to SVN or anything, someone may want to mirror them somewhere.

This also applies to any of the older stuff i submitted, if the source tracks haven't been added to the games source distribution, or arn't mirrored anywhere, then i'd appreciate it if someone could put them somewhere, this saves me having to make sure I maintain backups of the sources if anyone requests them.

I'm uploading the source for the third one, but the song is incomplete. As I said, the songs were made in Renoise (a tracker with VST support), using the Oatmeal VST (an abolsutly brilliant free subtractive synth). Both of these can be downloaded for free, and once you have them installed the song should load up fine, so if anyone wants to try their hand at finishing it up, be my guest!

Added link to source of the third to the original post.

Not finished? Really? It sounds good the way it is now.
