After having played a few hours of nethack how about cursing weapons when touching the opponent? :P
But i still think nexuiz has enough weapons, so maybe one of the wepaons with only one function should get a secondary mode and as this would be a bad idea for the nexgun we are left with the laser. Something like a small shockwave around the player.. it could even be used with those various ideas of removing or halving the opponents armor or make him drop his gun instead of doing 'normal' damage.

Never. There could never be enough weapons.
As soon as i learn QC i'm gonna make a ton of revolutionary weapons for nex.
I always thought that there should be a mode where RANDOM weapons spawn, with only the one fire mode (either always normal or always alternate). Force people to use some of the less popular weapons.
By the way, the hook should be a pickup also.

That's already in 2.1, try: g_nixnex 1

Imagine being able to grapple an individual while wielding a short-range weapon like a sabre or whatever. That's an interesting way of attacking somebody. The grapple would do damage, but the grapple would also pull you to them and do further damage.

I like the option of the grapple being a pick-up item as well. I've heard of a couple of good ideas for the grapple, including it requiring "fuel" in terms of energy cells. That would reduce the "spiderman" tactics (or tarzan, your choice) and require people to think before they grapple.

hmmm I don't like the grapple ammo suggestion, if you've played the facingworlds map before you know why. I could make the grapple model, it would give me something to do during decemeber break.
