Tech powerups?

I realy like the 3wave CTF like tehc powerups, I think they add a special twist to the gameplay. For those, who don't know, what a tech powerup is, I can explain in a few words: Tpu-s are similar to runematch's runes, they give special abilities to the player. Difference, that one player can only carry one tpu at once, and they give only one ability too. In 3wave, there are 4 types of them:

haste: doubles player's firerate
autodoc: automatically restores health and armor (in nexuiz it could double the health restoring rate)
disruptor shield: lower's recieved damage by 50%
strenght: doubles the damage the player can inflict (carried with a quad damage, it's 8x!!!)

How's about adding these tpu's too to Nexuiz CTF?

Yeah, standard. And adding those would not be Nexuiz game mod anymore. It would be a different mod which would make this ladder not having anything to do with nexuiz (which is what ladders are not).

team random does not like tech powerups? Well they were a really nice addition to CTF in quake1/2 ctf and quake4 (q4max?) and delta ctf for quake4 also has them.
In nexuiz it would be like a mixture of ctf and runemode. Well ctf does work well without them but adding them would make things more extreme.. defenders having a shield, attackers with 2x damage.. Some people think that the current push is already very extreme.. i'm not sure if it would help nexuiz ctf to be yet more extreme due to the tpu's but the general idea is nice.
HEHE how about a hook techpowerup? i'm sure some people would LOVE that :)

tech powerups would perhaps be cool, but in that case is should be added and enabled by default to the standard ctf game mode or the ctf ladder will become a specialized mod, this would be bad imo. amlost as bad as elo xD

<Diablo> quake1 never had a weapon like that.
<Vordreller> there was no need for anything over 4GB untill Vista came along

CB's idea sounded like a mod.

If they were standard in the game esteel then i have no problems wth using them in the ctf ladder / games on publics

I like C.Brutail's idea's very much.

And i'd like to see the shield incorporated into the maps more as it is very handy.

To bad the added glows makes yer player radiate pink when on both those powerups, somehow dosent seem to fit ;) Yeh thats a fun way to cap on tznex03, havent seen both thise powerups at the same time on any other nexuiz ctf map.. hmm.

Thise tech powerups would be fairly easy to add, making them appear in maps would need a map change or a .ent file for existing maps tho.

That's what CTF's about!

teamplay, fighting over powerups, grabbing powerups, and letting me go berserk in the enemy base with both......and teamkilling morfar at the same time 8) :twisted:

We do need more of a team play aspect, I find that on most servers the teams do not communicate to each other. We need something (such as objectives or team power ups) that will make that a REQUIREMENT.

I'd only make the team power ups work on people on your team within x units away from you. That way it would encourage squads, and it would create more strategies, for example the shield could be used while taking the flag, which could be counter acted by a strength power up. If we do this, the power ups should have to be used up based on use, not time. For example the strength power up could only inflict x HP before it goes away (hit or miss). This would force communication even more because there could be a guy wasting the squad's supply of strength by shooting at something/someone he definitely shouldn't bother with.

Hahaha.. sorry but have you played CTF on public servers? CTF has a requirement of DEFENDING the flag.. you hardly find that on public servers. Also on maps that HAVE powerups (and there are a few) i hardly have to fight for the quad damage unless kojn is on the other team..
Thats the reason why i wrote my CTF Guide but well that sad truth is that its well hidden here in the forum. Though it seems the situation has improved a bit :)
