Introducing +Zilla

Postby Bull » Thu Dec 27, 2007 7:04 pm

Hello all,

I have quite a history with FPS games, and I have been playing Nexuiz for about a month now and have come to love it. It is very much like the game I came from and I seem to have improved my abilities immensely since I began playing. The next logical step in my journey in this game is to join/make a competitive clan in which I can enjoy the true competitiveness of the game. I have applied to an existing clan, [GT], but was turned down. In the process they cited that they did not have much competition so I decided to make a clan of my own.

About me: (Since I know many of you haven't heard of me)

I'm 16, living in Virginia, and am currently a Junior in high school. I'm very competitive when it comes to gaming, and clan warfare is one of my specialties. I've led many a clan in my previous games, and I have the leadership skills required to create an effective clan. My interests lie in sports such as Golf, Baseball, and Basketball (Heh, helps to be 6'4", no?) and in most things involving computers.

Anyways, about the clan I am creating:

Name: Zilla clan.
Tag: [name]+Zilla
Who can join: I am looking for ONLY competitive players such as I. I will not accept the bottom of the line players in order to just whore members. I will not make the clan invite-only, since I'm not very well-known in this community yet, but I hope in the future the clan will be well-known enough that I can make it invite-only.

Requirements for joining:

1. You must be a player of high skill and must have the ability to take orders well. Insubordination in wars/scrims is unacceptable and will not be tolerated.
2. You must at least have teamspeak (While a mic is not required) so that orders may be given to you in clan wars/scrims orally and you may hear them. It is inefficient to type, and teamspeak provides an unparalleled edge in gaming. Teamspeak is easy to install if you don't have it yet, and I can guide you through the process if you are interested in joining and don't have teamspeak yet.
3. You must live in North America, for ping problems may arise for players in other continents.
4. You must be fairly active. I would only expect you to play 2-3 times a week. That would be fine by my.

Anyways, I'm quite serious about this, and I've noticed that in order to get a good clan started you need a group of friends or at least two people with enough balls to risk joining a clan that is unknown for now. So, due to this, I will be slightly more lenient now than in the future for players who wish to join. You must still be a good player, or you wil be denied.

I will create forums and a website if I find that there is substantial interest in this clan from the Nexuiz community.

If you have any questions or are interested in joining, either post a reply to this topic or contact me through one of these:

Thank you for reading, and I hope you are interested.

You are very eager, this is good. I'm glad you love Nexuiz, I do too :). Shaggy has done a good job gathering players of his clan. He worked hard to get there though. Gathering a bunch of good Nexuiz players together is not an easy task. Having competitive matches isn't all cake and rainbows like other games.

There is a lack of competition in Nexuiz clans. Your requirements are a bit absurd. The patronizing tone of your post might scare some possible members off. Though... I don't really know how successful these threads are, I believe Shaggy did most of his recruiting in the game itself.

If you show players that you are serious by organizing more information and maybe have a forum with some sort of FAQ, starting guide, game plan or whatnot, I think you can get a lot more people interested.

If you are as serious as you think you are, I would be happy to help out by offering you a forum/kyoman/gallery on www.nexuizninjaz.com as GT has.

If you've changed your mind and would like something a little less demanding, you might want to look into NANL, an emerging competitive league headed off by nifrek.

P.S. The current naming convention for clan tags on Nexuiz is: [tag]name, communities are name{tag}

[-z-],

Thanks for your suggestions. I know my requirements seem absurd, but that's because I'll never stand being in a clan that's mediocre. Even if I must play just by myself, I take pride in the fact that I don't join clans that suck or are mediocre. Even if I did scare some potential members off, I hope there are more that will realize what it means to be a member of Zilla (Which, by the way, was a clan I ran in another game. I'm trying to bring the same tradition of excellence to Nexuiz).

Also, thank you for your offer for a forum. Can I take you up on that one? I would like to get one started A.S.A.P.

Also, I never knew about that naming convention. Thanks for the pointer but I think I'm going to stick with +Zilla. Zilla+[name] doesn't really seem to fit. It's kinda like adding zilla to the persons name, like godzilla. You don't say zillagod. I will take it into consideration of maybe a new clan name if nobody is interested because of that.

Also, I've noticed all this stuff about ladders, and one suggestion I would make to the clan public in general is that organizing scrims to be at one place/time in advance rarely works out. Oftentimes, I say I will be on on Friday when it's Monday, and I'll find out Thursday I have to go to the doctor or something. Computers < life in most cases, and the way I would run my clan is I would have pickup scrims when 3+ of my members and 3+ of their members are on. Even that way, it's not impossible to record the results in a ladder. Scheduling scrims == bad idea.

So, thank you very much for your suggestions. I do believe I will do a lot of my recruiting in-game. I might even import some of my friends from other games to Nexuiz. I know many of them haven't played it yet.

Register on the forums and I will add your forum / make you moderator of it. I'll start you with a forum, when you gather more members and content, I'll give you a section in both kyoman and the gallery.

I registered. Can you just make the forum name +Zilla Clan? That'd be great. I'll update this thread with a link to it as well.

Wow, a competitive clan. :D

I am not interested in joining cause i am from Europe. At least here it is quite hard to get good players in a clan but i think it is less difficult in America.

If you got some players you can play on the nexuiz ladder: http://planetnexuiz.com/ladder/

I wish you good luck, getting good players in nex is a really hard task! :)

Thank you for the encouraging comments Diomedes.

Yes, I understand it won't be easy, but I'm ready for what it takes.

Thank you very much, -z-. Tomorrow I will be sure to begin to document the clan. I have time now, but it's hard to type a good post on an iPod Touch. ;)
