The North American clan scene is really just now starting to build up. There were evidently bunches of clans that popped up and didn't do anything, but now there are a few clans that are doing regular clan matches and practices. Hopefully, this will build some momentum and help to improve clan activity for north american players.

One major important part of a clan (or being active in the Nexuiz community) is getting in IRC. I keep pushing this to people, but it's very important for reaching people in the Nexuiz community for practices or matches (or finding a clan to join).

As far as joining a clan goes, I would first focus on getting your skills to a good level first. Get to know the ins and outs of Nexuiz. Do some 1v1's with some people. Make sure you get familiar with all of the weapons (best uses, what counters what, etc). Get a general idea of how to act in CTF matches. I think someone would have to get the basics much before being ready for a clan. Of course, if you come from a background of playing similar games, then you might get up to speed very quickly.
