tChr... doesn't matter what the rules state. Nobody will want to play a 1v1 match with high ping, so that won't work.

For example, Kojn has told me that he won't play on an American server.

Bundy... There is potential for there to be more than 5-6 players in a North American ladder. In about a week and a half, I found about 23 players interested in the North American 1v1 tourney. Due to difficulty in scheduling and communicating, only 9 players appeared for the tourney. It's a lot easier to manage a ladder than it is to manage a tourney since there are no scheduling conflicts, so it would probably attract more people.

Also, what is the point of having everyone in one ladder when they have to avoid challenging certain players? Just split the thing up into two ladders.

The reason why i would like to see americans join "our" ladder:I think that it looks better for _now_

Perhaps you could make a push to get things moving on the existing ladder? I worked pretty hard to get the North American 1v1 tourney started. It wasn't easy but it happened. You could certainly do the same or better for a European 1v1 ladder, since you have more players to work with. It seems like the existing ladder is using the "if we build it, they will come" strategy.

there is a difference between noone and "sophisticated" players youknow.. lots of peopl i know, including me have played matches all over the world. besides at the right times the ping from europe to i.e NY is under 100.

There is no use in forking a separate ladder. the players can challenge each other and decline if the conditions are not good enough. the ELO system is spesifically designed to calculate the ranking anyways, so igf eveyone keeps in the same ladder the ranking list will be close to correct even though not everyone play each other.

I am the admin of the current (official) Nexuiz Ladders (1on1, 2on2, 3on3 CTF) and I've been following this discussion from the start. However, I am still not sure what to think about this. Creating a separated ladder isn't actually much effort, only a few mouseclicks, and if one of the american players feels responsible he/she can even become admin for that ladder, these features are already done for the ladder script which was coded by Morfar and me.

My proposal would be that you create a poll in the General Nexuiz Ladders Forum and let people vote there for a timespan of 2 weeks whether to create a separated 1on1 US ladder or not. Depending on the result I'll create a american ladder.

Please note that I might even vote for "yes" in this case. There are pro and contra arguments (pro: e.g. nice pings for everyone in either europe or US, which are mainly the 2 participating regions, and I also don't consider lower pings like 100ms playable when it comes to competitive gameplay. contra arguments like: getting smaller ladders, probably inactive, dead ladders)

What i think about that topic is cleared I guess, no need to write it down again. But I won´t vote, because this is (for me) something the US players have to decide.

I agree with Green Marine. A poll to see if there is enough interest would be a wise move. If it shows a lot of interest, it could move to the next step.
