Info about ladders and clans in general?

Postby AceOfThumbs » Fri Oct 12, 2007 12:38 pm

I'm interested in the ladders, but I don't know how it works. I see there are mentions of clans, too. Can anyone explain these concepts and how it is different from playing a regular Nexuiz game?

Thanks

well, actually there is no difference from playing a regular match. But the one is just for fun, the other is more like a serious competition. Or what you mean exactly?

Assume I know nothing about ladders and clans other than there are arranged DMs and CTFs.

How do you set up a match or are they set up by some official? Is scheduling a difficult problem?

Is there some kind of ranking for clans? Do you need to be in a clan to play a ladder match?

Is there info about clans and ladders posted on an official web page somewhere?

I saw some posts about penalty point expiration. How do you get a penalty point to begin with?

Thanks

The ladder as three sections 1v1, 2v2, 3v3 CTF. 3v3 CTF is made up of mostly clans. 2v2, you need a partner, 1v1 on need a challenger

On the ladder, once you registered there is a option to Join Ladder, once you've joined the ladder you can challenge people to matches. Yes, scheduling is a problem but thats why there is a downtime option. This allows you to

Yes there is a ranking system for clans, they are decided on the amount of matches they win. No, you don't need to be in a clan to be in a ladder match, but if you want to play 2v2 or 3v3, you need to be in a team or clan.

I'm not sure about ladders posted on the official web page. Although if you are looking for information on clans OUNS:
http://ouns.wikispaces.com/clan
It has a huge list of clans and a little info about them. Ladder info will be on the rankings link from the ladder.

You get penalties because of overdue matches, and not obeying the rules.

Thanks for the info, Shaggy. That helps. My schedule varies so much right now that I don't know if a ladder would work well for me, but it sounds fun. I'm sure I'll try it some time.
