I still am convinced he totally misunderstood the Assault game mode :P

Still, the map doesn't look THAT bad. What about making an "easy" version of it with multiple objectives?

If anyone needs help COMPILING the map, I'll help.

BTW: the map is still easier than test99, about which nobody complained like this (except for me :P). On the other hand, test99 is designed to be evil. Intentionally. (Okay, it has "noob paths" now which everyone can make it past, but they are of course slow).

Speaking of "noob paths", maybe that'd be the ideal solution for mikeeusa's maps. Make the "hard to beat" passages faster to beat (and maybe even a bit harder). But, add "easy" passages besides them that can be used to circumvent the hard parts - with that take substantially longer (as long as your hard passages take now).

For example, tundramagi could have a long underground tunnel system between the bases that isn't guarded by turrets.

Or, think of the laser rooms in this map. An idea would perhaps be making a long hallway with moving lasers that go up and down - but not too far down. Ideally, you can go through them easily while crouched, but "real men" will use a jumppad at the right time to make it past all the lasers at once (but they'll die if they hit a laser on their trajectory).

BTW, stop provoking him all the time. And banning someone simply is useless extra work, he'd simply register a new nick. Email addresses and IP addresses are so easy to get, banning isn't worth it if the banned guy has some minor clue about IT.

The best thing you can do is open his maps in radiant, and fix the stuff that's wrong with them. You can use humor for it :P

I did that before - see blueamuse81_wsw, nordiccastle71race, and recently bonuscheckers.

Others did it too - see desertcastles_mod (unfortunately it went TOO easy, but something in between would've been great), roundel_remix.

Well, I'm not that good of a map maker. I guess I could become better if I wanted to but I already have so much other stuff to do. Making maps is actually fun and I did create maps for CS once upon a time, enjoyed it.
But, taking the time for it is time I hardly have (sadly), I'd rather spend it becoming a better 3D artist ^_^

Oh and Mike, I called you a kid cause you are stubborn and doesn't want to learn. That IMO is equal to a kid. And a cockroach that no matter how many times you kill a cockroach they still come back, i.e. no matter how many times we ban you you still come back.
(This is just an explanation, not a provoke, he asked for one and I think we all can agree on this anyway, even Mike should actually see the truth in this.)

Now, why do you have to start that crap again? This thread is about YOUR MAP and nothing else, lets try to be professionals and keep it at that. Besides just because you spend time to learn how to do maps and i did not does not mean i'm not qualified to judge maps. Even people that never learned an instrument or to sing can judge if music is good or not (within certain constrains, i admit... thus i'm not disecting your map and critique technical issues about it)

You asked for opinions about your map, mine is that a huge map with only one objective which also takes a long time to get there if you survive all the traps can't be taken for a serious assault map. Its more like if the attacking team survives the traps and gets to the objective first they win.. My idea and that of a lot of other people about assault is to attack/defend objectives and not to try to avoid crazy traps and regarding that your map fails utterly and thus is a TRY at a assault map but NOT a serious assualt map to me. That part has nothing to do with the fact that its not just a screenshot but because it fails at what is expected (by me). Up to that point i did still take your request to judge the map and yourself, for taking the time to do the work on the map, serious.

I tried to give valid input to your map and just because you dislike my critique you start with some totally unrelated stuff that really does not belong into this forum.. Maybe i should have taken some more time to put my critique more friendly and clearer though.. but imo it was not that bad to warrant your 'breakout'.. And thats the part i do not take serious about you..

Updated map to v14: added 2 nuclear reactors and made the glass in the last laser hall reflective so if you have a great computer it can look real nice.

Esteel: Mappers wouldn't be needed if variety in gameplay was banned/disliked: one could just write a perlscript to make the maps.

There's no reason you can't make an assault map. Alot of people choose not to make maps and then become angry at me for not making the type of map they want... I make maps I want to make, they should make maps they want to make. They see the job of a map maker to consist of making maps they themselves (the players who don't make maps) will enjoy... I'm not employed as a map maker .... I work as a retail clerk and make minimum wage (I have a college degree but what is that worth?).

My idea of an assault map is a difficult battle... like in UT or RTCW:enemy territory.
