[MAP] Interrogator (Version 2)

Postby Byrned » Wed May 28, 2008 1:00 pm

Hey, so I recently made a map, as some of you may know, called Interrogator. The first version of it has been up on BC1 and Kow Palace for a little while now, and I thought I would use some of the suggestions I received to make it even better! Huzzah! VERSION 2 IS BORN! I added tons of kewl stuff, so check it out and tell me what you think - feedback is like my food and I feast upon it. Here are some screenshots -

Yeah its looking interesting.. but i also wonder how you got those bmp files.. pressing f12 to create a screenshot does as jpg by default.

I'm at work so I can see this version right now, but the screen shots look very similar to the last version I palyed.

This map seemed to have some potential, and I was impressed that this was your first map. A good start. When playing it in DM or even 1v1, I found that the map design tended to funnel everyone down into the lower level. That's where 90% of the action took place. And that damn statue thing kept getting in the way :-) I always bumped into it.

I could see the map expanding to become an interesting CTF map. I saw you turned this into a CTF map by creating a red and blue base, but the map is too small. It should really be mirrored to create two symmetrical halves in order to be a good CTF map.

I'll have to try this new version when I get home tonight. Oh, another thing....you may want to consider using the version system of using "Revisions" if the map hasn't changed very much from the previous one. That way, this map would be version 1, revision 2.

Thx Doku! Yeah for the CTF version I super rushed it to get it on Kows server. I pretty much just threw some flags in... so thats reaaallly temporary. As for changes, I shortened the statue, added some small ramps at the base, added a few beams near the ceiling and took out some of the annyoing edges around the little alcove near the lower Mortar. I also changed that *kinda* weird purple glass to a more normal color (i.e. CLEAR) The idea of the funnel design was to make it interesting (I like fighting in and around the statue on 1v1 - it adds some tactics to the map cuz you have to guess where your opponent is and what weapon he is going to use) Anywho, check it out, as I am open to suggestions.
PS I'll add a DL link to the original post.
