General info:
=============

Behold "Hot Grounds", a deathmach arena, where only the toughtest ones dare to fight! Hot molting lava flows all over the place, a small mistake, and you're burned like crisp! Heavy weaponry, traps. and hazadous environment waits you inside the arena!
So grab your rocket launcher, and "Kiss to cook!"

Changelog since V.2.1:
======================
+trapdoors have larger windows
+added more eye-candy
+proper caulking
+new skybox
+fixed textures
+totally re-lit the map

Changelog since V.1.1:
======================
Nothing serious. I was not happy with the lavatube-trap button. It has turned out, that it's not easy to trap anyone from there. So I've put 3 more buttons to add more fun ;)

Interesting map....and that's saying a lot, because I really have a strong dislike for lava in maps :-)

One question though: Why is the pk3 (and bsp) called cb_dm1 when the map name is hot grounds? Why not hot_grounds_v3r1?

That's just an odd naming conversation from me. And that way I know when I've started the map.

But you know that makes it harder for players to recognize the map in the map voting?

Of course, this goes back Neuxiz's map naming/vote screen limitations. It would be ideal if the map name could be pulled from the .mapinfo file. But since it's not, I've been repacking maps to use their "proper" names in the bsp file. That results in the maps being played more often because players recognize the names. This was the case with those Q3 conversion maps (CPMA, etc). Nobody voted for those maps on my public DM server until I repacked them with their proper names.

I always include map image. That's enough imho.

Hmm... well, thumbnails weren't enough for those CPMA maps. People didn't recognize them until I gave them "real" names.

I just think map naming conventions are a big problem in Nexuiz. A lot of maps get overlooked because of this. It's obvious to me that people tend not to recognize names that appear to be just a bunch of random letters smashed together.

cb_dm1_v3r1

or

hot_grounds_v3r1

Why give the map a name at all if you're not going to use that name in the map voting?

No problem at all. There goes at least some conversation, as it seems nobody is interested in the new version anyway :P
